and he also committed one more mistake by listing his keywords on DP. dont be surprised to see DP in top 10 for that keyword.

Way to go you must be getting a lot of clicks from google now. Use the traffic wisely, and do some more link building, to keep your current rankings, or even go up! We'll be waiting for the new post where you will say you're no 1!

Read the full post before replying. That keywords get about 1-2 searches per day.

Good work. A lot of people can't seem to get any type of 1-10 page ranking, so you are at least doing something right.

The only problem is, from the looks of it, that term doesn't have a real high search volume. You may be able to get some traffic, but at less than 100 searches per month, it won't be anything to write home about.

Try to target words with more searches. You can keep that position, just try to branch out and target keywoprds with a highly search volume.

    Just wondering...
Was there a specific reason why you chose this keyword over another (more in demand) keyword???

I read the posts above, and the word is that it only gets 1 to 2 searches per month.

    I'm a bit lost....
How did you come up with this keyword to use???

He probably didn't do any research on search frequency. He probably thought of that random keyword out of his head.

I've checked your kewords "gaming directory" and I can't see a single affiliate ( or non affiliate ads) in the right hand corner of the google page displaying the keywords.

One way to check if your keyword will sell, is to see if there are also keyword-related ads displayed...

here's a demo ...go to google and type the keyword phrase "download arcade games" ... from my end I can see 3 ads displayed on the right corner......which simply means this is a good keyword phrase to target.

It's not that simple. Having advertisements on the SERP doesn't mean people actually search for the keyword.

I would like to agree with "live-cms" as well...

I mean, what if Those 3 advertisers didn't do their "keyword home work" either???

What if they are all competing for a keyword that simply does not have an audience. (Which seems to be the case here.)

How are we to just assume that they did (do their homework) without first doing our own due diligence beforehand???

Now, maybe if there were a little more than 3 ads there I could think that maybe there is some action for this keyword going on.

But to simply look at only 3 ads, and run with it....
I don't know.... Is there something I'm not getting???

It is why I say, not to do competitor research...who says those knuckleheads know what they are doing???

We need to do consumer research!!!!!!!

That is who any, and all webmasters should care about and whose opinions we should hold close to our hearts, and let them lead us in how to market to them most effectively.

    Peace!

Consumer research is not so great either, I would prefer to research based on search statistics.

Weird I saw you at position 6, does not seemed to be consistent results, but very impressive still for such a keyword.

A more accurate method of keyword research is checking out the search frequency at www.KeywordDiscovery.com/search.html or you can read about keyword research here or here -
