So I'm new to the whole SEO thing, but after a few weeks of reading up and performing some SEO I've gotten one of my sites up to #2 on Google for it's keywords. Very exciting. SEO is a fascinating thing. It seems there always new and exciting things to play around with and perform. I look forward to a good year in 2008.
thats great, congratulations. one important tip tho, don;t get comfortable with your ranking. if it is a competitive keyword, then other players will always try to outperform you in the market and try to get ahead of you. so make sure you always update your site and keep building backlinks. maybe not as much as before, but keep working on it or you will fall behind.
you said you rank #2 with your keywords? wow...must have been a lot of work and time you spent there...you got how many keywords to be specific?
yes there are always new and exciting things in seo so don't be surprised if your site is not on first page tomorrow,. lol Anyway,just continue what your doing in order to maintain your rankings,. Remember, your not the only one optimizing a site
Good work! Now you have to work to maintain your ranking while also increasing your ranking for more keywords. But, first I would add the "rel=nofollow" attribute to your footer links and r. sidebar links or else you can easily find your site devalued and ranking vanished for endorsing paid links. Your advertisers won't be to happy and you may not get any future advertisers, but your site has a better chance of securing its ranking.
