Rank websites with 1 page

Lately i have been making many websites that main content is only One HTML Page that aren't going to be updated.

I managed to rank many of those websites into the first page for my desired keywords but in the end they are dropping (note: websites are 3months old and this is normal in sites that aren't old)

I was wondering if you could rank a website that only contains that kind of content or i should really start making a good website out of it ?

I know there will be lots of different opinions here, but if someone has personal experience with this stuff, i will be glad to hear some feedback.

    Thanks.

The problem is you wont get returning visitors which is a big thing to me.

I'm not trying to make a community or the user to like the website.

So can you please, focus on the main question?

    thanks.

I can tell you that a one page website can be ranked well. I have one and have seen others that appeared on the first two pages of results for various keywords/phrases.

I have several one page sites that have good content, but are mainly for generating Adsense clicks. They seem to fluctuate in the rankings, but most of the time they stay within the top 10-12 for their keywords. So yes, it is possible.

If I notice them slipping, I'll just create a few backlinks, or write a blog article and include some links to the page, and with a day or so, it seems to help them get back up in the rankings.

Well, i know they can rank well..... But the main concern is if they are able to hold that ranking for a long time (continuing the same link strategy of course) or they could drop because lack of content?

    thanks.

Lemme guess, one of those ebook seller things? One page selling page for ebooks or something?

If I were a search engine giant, I'd penalize sites like that.

Yes I think they can hold there positions if you keep working on link building, as competition will come and go. I would suggest watch it closely when it starts to drop abit, spend sometime building links, there is plenty of ways to do this. With a long term plan and continually monitoring I think this can be done.

I'd get some unique or rewritten articles that closely match the website content and start submitting.
