While I understand that your clients may want to rank well in Yahoo and MSN, they will do far better in Google. A #1 ranking in both Yahoo and MSN combined, won't come close to the traffic a top 5 ranking in Google will produce (for the same keyword or keywords). Perhaps you might want to consider educating them a bit in terms of what works and doesn't work. I have had past clients that felt the same way until I spend some time working with them.

it definitely has to do with a different algorithm. The focus has always been on google due to greater percentages using their SE, though I think you do have to do what the client asks you to do. What kind of SEO practices have you been doing?

Right - then they will some how get in contact with some one who says that it is important and that he can get them to the top of MSN and Yahoo. Then I will lose that client.

Of course you can get more traffic from Google but that doesn't mean that is the kind of traffic that you want. I wish I could find demographics on search engines. This clients main customers are 50+ years old and I have a feeling that most older people use whatever the default search engine is on their computer, not Google.

Edit: I did a quick search on Search engine demographics and it seems that people over 55 prefer MSN. So that goes right along with what I am saying. You can't rule out MSN and Yahoo just because they don't bring in the same amount of traffic. I don't care how much traffic this site is getting as long as it is getting the right traffic and they are bringing in leads.

One thing you can do is submit sitemap to yahoo and msn by Yahoo Site search and Live Webmaster. Also try optimising meta tags as I feel msn still gives importance to meta tags.
Other than than its same. You should sign up for their webmaster tool like things like you did for Google webmaster tools.
