Well there are many things that you need to know about the google and yahoo. In yahoo submission and some links give good ranking. While there are many links needed for google to come a good ranking but if your content is unique then you can get more traffic from google.
Google algorithm and yYahoo algorithm are different which Google Algorithm do not catch low quality link byt yahoo does if you check google webmaster backlink checker you will found there are huge different compare then yahoo webmaster link checker for that it's different
I have some words for my site that rank well on Yahoo but are no where on any other search engines and likewise with Google I think Google takes longer to move sites up in search position for keywords. I have had words that suddenly appear in top 30 then disappear all together then reapper. I think its just a function of how Google works. You just have to keep building quality back links for those words. Try to spread them around. Not just directories and forums but also bookmarking sites, blog comments Squidoo lens etc.
Same here. My blog is 3 weeks old and Yahoo has been all over it...Lots of folks do use Yahoo search so it certainly isn't a bad thing-Google just takes longer.
If all search engines produced the same results, there wouldn't be any need for more than one search engine! It's the different results produced which can be interesting and useful. Yes, Google is much more popular with most people, but not everyone thinks that "Google is king". Personally, I don't like its stress on links and I use Yahoo for my searches. So do a significant minority of internet users. So don't complain if you are listing well on Yahoo!
You should also submit your blog to different blog directories. Some of them might charge a few bucks from you but in the end they are all worth the investment. Try submitting to DMOZ, Yahoo Directory (a little expensive), Eaton Blog Directory and Bloggeries. You can also use FeedBurner for your feeds and go to the settings of your FeedBurner feed and enable the "Ping Different Search Engines" option. This will notify all major search engines whenever you write a new post. You can also join a few blogging communities like OnTopList dot com and BlogCatalog dot com. Good luck!
Google and Yahoo uses different algorithm in ranking a site. Yahoo is more on on-page optimization while google is more on links. So I think building more links can help your site rank better.
I believe in my case too yahoo is giving me much more traffic than Google. Don't know I had optimized all my sites for Google, but Yahoo seems to like them more..
For whatever reason, yahoo doesnt pick up many of my blog posts. And I think I only have like 14 pages indexed there, but google has around 90. It's not even like it's a new site either. But then yahoo also has MORE pages of another site I had that had very few pages overall. My best guess is... that this is why "google is king."
I think that you can rank well on both yahoo and google if you have a rich content made by yourself, a unique number of visitors everyday and a rememberable domain name.
