Rank high for keyword but no traffic - help please

Hi. My site onlinegamblingdeals.co.uk rank high for "online gambling" , 1st in yahoo(uk pages) and 3rd yahoo(web pages). Even though Adwords shows 1110,000 searches/month , I get no traffic from this keyword. I know less people use yahoo but even if 5% of the google numbers would generate some traffic(at least 1 a day lol). Am I missing something? Could anyone please explain?

    Thank you
    Paul

Did you specicy a specific country when you carried out your keyword research? E.g. carried out keyword search in ALL countries? It might be that if this is the case that your site is only ranking high in the UK SERPS. Its strange that it would do this. What may show up as high rankings for you may NOT actually show up in the top 50 for othersm not sure why but I have this with several of my sites too.....

I didnt specified any country, but I think it shows only UK (it sais results are tailored to English, United Kingdom).
Anyway in UK SERPS my site is 1st and worldwide is 3rd....so it's still at the top. I was so happy when I first saw my site up there, only to finf out it brings no traffic at all :(

Lets take a look at a few numbers....

    http://www.google.com/trends?q=onli...funny+pictures&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0

Using Google Trends I listed 3 keyword phrases to compare...

    1. online gambling (your keyword)
    2. gambling online (alternate of your keyword)
    3. funny pictures (keyword i know)

As you can see, your actual keyword doesn't even show up in the comparison, however the alternate does. Funny pictures gets around 250,000 to 300,000 searchs a month. By logcial visual viewing of this data it shows you get almost NO traffic at all for that specific keyword phrase your using. I suggest trying #2 as your primary keyword.

maybe your catch phrase is not attractive and do not make people want to click on your link.

I tried to describe the site as best as I could in the catch phrase....but I think even if it's the worst catch phrase would still get 1 click out of hundreds( being top 3)

I bet it is. As ssandecki said, there is almost no traffic in google trend. But in Google keyword tool, Online gambling gets 823,000 searches in June.
You should have gotten some clicks.
I don;t see your website anywhere. Are you sure you rank high ??

Did you use the "" for specifc and [] for exact, those numbers can be broad keywords as well.

I just tried with "" and [], still a lot of traffic. How come google trend and google keyword have such different results?

Rank Checker (comes with Firefoz SEO) checks the ranking for Google, Yahoo and MSN. I don't see you anywhere for any of those under online gambling or gambling online, even online gambling uk etc....

Google Adwords tool is an "estimator" and nothing more, throw $15.00 into an adwords account and set an ad for those keywords and count the impressions and see the REAL daily results. ;)

that's probably because I am looking at online gambling from canada, which makes some canadian website rank before yours...
