Hi all, just joined yesterday and found this to be a very informative forum

So i thought i would ask

I was checking my links in google and found that other sites are listing my site

These sites have a page rank of "0" or "1" and figure this would damage my page rank

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

    Cass

No, it will not cause any damage, new + deep pages tend to have lower PR. PR is just a measurement of links to you. Rankings are dependent on many other factors.

    Thanks for that Design Agent

    Just wanted to know

Another point, one of them is a new online directory and they have created a subdomain under their domain and i was told by someone they should remove this as this would be damaging?

    Thanks again

i always thought that inbound links won't be able to hurt you... if it could, competitors would create dodgy sites that link to yours...

They wont hurt you at all. Only will cause damage if you link to them. I wouldn't go by just PR, if the site has simular good content I would feel safe linking to them even with a lower PR.

I have seen in the past if someones get a lot of links very quickly it will hurt that site (say 100,000 ) in a weekend... if a competitor did that too you it wouldn't help your rankings

    Cass,

    Welcome to the forums.

No that's not the case. The only thing to worry about ever (besides you linking out to dodgy sites) is 302 redirect links coming in. That can kill you. I believe Google has claimed to be on top of the issue but I haven't heard proof yet.

So if someone links to you with a 302 redirect you could be fooked.

    hii dear

well when you are getting links from them there is no harm and when you exchange links check it out that you are getting link from higher side because in that case u wont be getting any advantage
