    If you setup a shop, theres always people walking past the window and looking in, you dont have to advertise...people just find you because you are there

    If you setup a website, theres no looking 'in your window' unless you advertise the site...just because its there doesnt mean people will find you

    Obvious? Yes. To everyone? No

    Im trying to say that is not true

    I could have a 12 month old site that i registered privately...never mentioned it..never told anyone

    A website starts off in the middle of the desert. Nobody wanders by until you tell them to come. Even then, few will wander to your site as they see little value in it. After the people start trickling and spreading the word and coming back, the marketers (Search engines) come and visit. They spread the word about your site FREE, as long as you have stuff to spread. Eventually, you get out of the desert and to the civilized world.
