    It seems to me that individuals that go into the online business field are more focused on monetizing their website than developing their product.
    In my mind it should go:
    Product ->Brand->Community->Profit.

    Create a good product, stand behind it and build a brand. Support the community that surrounds your product and the money will come.
    We need to stop the SEO driven content, the ads on every free space of web property, and focus on collaboration through community.
