Raising Quality Score

    I have a google adwords advertisement and i am trying to use several hundred keywords. I have noticed that many of the keywords require a higher bid. Are there any suggestions in raising my quality score so I can bid lower amounts for these keywords?

    Don't put hundreds of keywords in one ad group - your CTR will suffer and that will cause your minimum bid amount to increase.

    Thanks. I have some questions...

    1) Can you place all of the keywords into the same campaign, but under different ad groups?

    2) Is there a guideline for the number of keywords that should be placed in an ad group?

    3) Other than requiring a higher bid, is there any other disadvantages in having too many keywords in a single ad group?

    Yes. 1 campaign with multiple ad groups is the way to go.

    Not really a "guideline", just make sure it makes sense to have the keyword in that ad group. For example, if you're selling yellow widgets (and only yellow widgets) you could have the keywords:

    [buy yellow widgets]
    [buy yellow widget]
    [yellow widget buy]
    [order yellow widgets]
    [order yellow widget]

    (notice I'm a fan of exact matching)

    You wouldn't, at least I would think, want to include [blue widgets] or [widgets] for example in the same ad group. They could drive your CTR down, or, drive lots of unqualified traffic to your site.

    If the keywords are not directly related to the ad you'll end up with lower targeted, lower converting visitors. A lower CTR will also cause your costs to go up and you position in the paid results to suffer.
