Achieving a PR1-3 is pretty easy if that is all that you desire. Forum posting and blog commenting can be all that you need. Or you can buy one PR4 link and most likely achieve your goal for very little money.

Submit to several freebie directories and post a lot on here and you should get PR3 pretty easy. Beyond that you may need to pay. If you are going to pay, I would look for good quality sites that are related to your blog niche.

There is no set number of backlinks to get your PR to a PR1, PR2, PR3, etc. Just concentrate on the quality of your links rather than quantity, and create a tightly themed directory. The PR will come.

I would suggest gradual link building from industry related directories and free search engine directories.

Maybe a good place to start - http://www.web-directories.ws/General/Free/

Try also submitting to social bookmarking services. If you have popular keyword tags you can raise PR. Posting on relevant forums/communities is also a good start.

Actually I have a blog I create this last march from PR0 - PR4. And I don't spend money for that. I just link my site to a relevance site and submit it to free directory and a quality content also will help.

You can get pr2 with very little effort

^^ you do not need 1000-3000 backlinks.

    I have a pr4 with 1400 backlinks.

    Its the quality that counts...

Find few good pr3/4 sites with not alot of external links, and you can get up to a 3 by the next update.

Please look where you buy your links. G is going after all links it suspect were bought. It says it is an artificial way to boost PR. I suggest you do manual submission alongside the bought links in the event that the purchased ones get into trouble, you have something to count on.
