I own an online dating site that I am looking to sell, and was wondering if I could get some rough appraisals. I am not putting it on the market yet, but am talking with private parties who would be able to continue the business according to it's current vision and model.

    Rainbow Christians (tm)
    www.RainbowChristians.com

    • Google Page Rank 5
    • 10-20,000 unique visitors a month
    • 60-90, 000 page loads a month
    • See traffic stats here: http://my5.statcounter.com/project/...530ca6540658&guest_login=1&project_id=4615879
    • Purchase of the business will include a USA trademark for the term "Rainbow Christians"
    • The value is not just in the domain and website, but the name which is well known. It has been featured in countless newspapers, magazines, and other media outlets including RTV6, ABC News10, The Washington Blade, Outword Magazine, Philadelphia Gay News, Queerty.com, The Living Church, and has been advertised in Instinct Magazine and Bay Area Reporter to name a couple places.
    • I make about $400-600 a month on user subscriptions, which right now are only $5 a month.

I'm really looking for an appraisal of the fair value of this domain and business as a whole.

based on earnings and traffic, probably 30 to 40k. if u can ramp up earnings it would dramatically increase the value because it seems like its not being monetized very well.

Yes, earnings aren't great because I've only been charging $5/month which is cheap for a specialized dating site. I also haven't had time to commit myself to a good marketing campaign. Any suggestions of where I could sell this business for a fair price?

Do others on here agree with Iproperty's estimate?

I think the valuation given is very high. Generally speaking, you take the net income for the last 12 months and can expect to get 1 to 1 1/2 times the yearly net. Now if the site takes a lot of time to maintain, you would have to deduct a fair market salary for the work from the net. A site making $6K a year that requires 10 hours a week works out to about $12 an hour. Few people would even pay $10K to buy themselves a $12 hour job.

If you believe the site has potential and can increase the monthly fee, do it before you sell it. Every site has "Potential" but buyers will want to see actual results.
