How much faster Raid0/1 than just regular single hard drive ?

My server having problem with a lot of read/writes which makes server slow, now I am going to add Raid 1 with second hard drive, want to find out does it really help ?

Yes, if you have disk IO problem I suggest you to go for RAID solution. This will certainly helpful.

Yes, go for RAID 1 solution. It will decrease disk I/O of your server.

You can also move to higher RPM Hard Disks such as 10k RPM or higher in RAID setting.

You might expect to see twice the performance using RAID. Here are some comparison charts between single drives and RAID that visually demonstrates the performance increase with RAID.

I'm sure if you search a little bit you'll find other studies from magazines and testing labs that already explain the real world benefits of RAID vs a single fast hard drive. Let us know what you find out.
