Rahm Emanuel might not appear to be the obvious choice for White House chief of staff for a president-elect who speaks eloquently of setting aside partisan differences and bringing the country together. The Illinois congressman, after all, is best known as something of a Democratic political assassin. From his days as a top aide to President Clinton to his recent role leading the Democrats to a House majority, Emanuel has relentlessly attacked his foes and gone ruthlessly after anyone who stood in his way. Looks good to me. He seems like a good complement and counter to Obama and his personality and seems to possess the qualities that Obama lacks. A team needs people with different, yet complementary skills to function at it's best. A team with 1 Obama and 9 other differently skilled guys will beat 10 Obamas any day.
Breaking news today Emanuel Was Director Of Freddie Mac During Scandal http://www.abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=6201900&page=1 President-elect Barack Obama's newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot "red flags," according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com.
He has a reputation as being a partisan hatchet man out to destroy opposition. This falls in line with Obama's history of typical Chicago politics and will set the tone for his staff. Chief of staff is almost always in the room during meetings. Emanuel is not the least bit evenhanded. If his choices continue to be this radical, it will mean a hard swing left, which will surely be followed with voters returning to the right.
Rahm Emanuel? HA. So you can expect Obama to continue with Bush's Middle Eastern policies. Hopefully Obama can manage the White House as well as his campaign.
