RAD Tools like Scriptcase/ PHP Runner are good to start for beginner?

Recently i came to know a latest thing, Scriptcase. A tool where you don't even have to write a single line code and your will be able to develop entire application on drag n drop basis. More over the reviews are too good and the users seems to be satisfied with it. Now the question is, what is the scope of such application for beginners? Are they just gonna spoil the programming skills ? Mostly clients don't offer much time for application development. Will it be a magicstick for freelancers like me to save time and do/earn more ?

With all seriousness...learning the basics of most programming languages is not as difficult as it seems. Learning software to write poor, buggy, restrictive code often takes longer than learning the language itself. If you invest (time or money) in to a program like that you will waste a lot of time to find out you can't accomplish what you are looking to do.

The first programming language I learned was Perl. I learned it on a set top box that couldn't even save a file. I learned Perl before I even owned an actual computer. In fact, I learned Perl before I KNEW how to use a computer. Every other language I took on I was able to pick up rather quickly since all languages have a LOT of similarities.

I strongly advise you to Learn PHP. After JUST knowing the basics there are TONS of libraries that will do all the complicated crap for you. You don't need that POS software.

Side note.. back in the day I was thrilled to hear about Dreamweaver so I could ditch writing HTML code and speed up my development with Point and Click. After spending time learning dreamweaver I realized that writing a "sentence" of HTML code was faster than clicking 25 times to achieve something that doesn't align properly. Don't be deceived.
