All of us know that do-follow links help in boosting serp in case of Google.Other serach engines depend on Google for searcch results. Do no follow links play a role in case of msn, yahoo and other serach engine.
Not all of the SEs use the nofollow attribute, so they do play a roll. On top of that HUMANS click nofollow links, which is what you want in the end anyway. A well placed nofollow link can potentially do more for your site then 10 crappy followed links. A blog that has nofollow links in the comments yet has 10,000 unique readers daily will give you more traffic then a followed link on a blog that offers only 1,000 daily readers.
No-follow links will not help in optimizing your site to Search Engines. However as the above member said, it can help you to gain direct traffic from where the link is placed.
A lot of people have been talking about brands and URL citations being useful, if those are useful I am inclined to think that nofollow links should also have some value (even for Google).
Contrary to popular belief, no follow links do play their part in imprving search rankings. Think CTR!
I have seen no follow links play a very important role in SEO. For those who think otherwise, I beg to differ. I don't think Google completely ignores all no-follow links
i think they play a role for example, if you have a link that goes viral and 300 people post it on their facebook pages (which is nofollow), i am sure this would have an effect on SERPS. Google knows where traffic is coming from, even if technically the page does not pass pagerank. and we all know how worthless PR is these days...
Hi, My wesite is new and I observed that google chose the websites that have backlinks with nofollow in the search results, so I think that nofollow tags are important also.
