I was doing some studies on faster typing and came across Dvorak..

    This is the keyboard layout:

Which do you use and have you heard of dvorak before now?

    Thanks,

Someone I worked with used Dvorak and he switched computers and then was no longer there. It was a pain to get it off the systems he used as nobody but himself knew where to turn it on or off and it seemed to turn itself back on for each program you opened. It is a very different key layout and if you consider not being able to do use cut and paste keyboard shortcuts without addon programs faster typing, then go for it. I would stick to qwerty if you already know it. I can type over 50 WPM on QWERTY and that is fast enough I think.

I heard of it because a person in the guinness world records used the keyboard, i think it was a woman.

I have never used it though.

You really do type faster with it! I switched over to Dvorak for 10 months or so and have since switched back to QWERTY. I averaged about 100wpm with Dvorak. It was just a pain to switch the settings every time I get on a computer at the computer lab.
