    Hey All,

Do you think it would be OK to include something like "This service has been used by such promininent companies as Amazon.com, etc, etc" on a site or does one need to get permission from the companies listed to do so?

    Thanks

If it's not a mis-statement, I don't see a problem with it; as long as you can back it up. However, if it's a true statement, it'd be nice to get that from the "horse's mouth" so to speak - from someone at that company that is a verifiable person.

Personally, I put little faith in testimonials on the net - hell, I just read a post by Elvis :D But, if you're going to use them or make a statement, it's more credible when it's verifiable.

I know lots of small businesses online who get a random order from someone at microsoft and say "Microsoft shops here!" on their website or something. Its kinda silly, but I guess if it works for you. My list is pretty big, I'm waiting for that first white house order though, DOD is the best I've gotten LOL

Well, I guess I was not looking to use the names of the companies as testimonials per se, just casually mentioning that they have used the service ;)

Seems like there is no problem with doing so. I just want to be sure it won't piss some of the companies off (even if all that means they'll stop using my service with no legal implications)

Some companies might not be bothered and some might be , but to be on the safe side, just let the company know your intentions.

Unless the company had you sign a document that stated you could not do so, there is nothing wrong with stating FACT.

Contacting the company is a good policy if you are worried about business relations.

If it's a fact, I don't see the problem, as long as there's no misrepresentation. It's like saying "we're located in the same city as XYZ corp."
