How much would you have to earn by blogging, before you'd quit your day job?

    Hi,

I already quit my day job!

However I had been doing IM part time for a number of years before taking the leap, and was actually earning more with my part time IM activitys then I was from my full time job - and that was a high paying job...

I also made sure I had enough money in the bank to cover my basic living costs for 3 months just in case something went wrong. For example, Google may one day change the algorithm causing my sites to lose rank, traffic and revenue and is out of my control if they choose to do so.

So make sure you have some cushion funds in case things do go wrong!

    Thanks

I'm not greedy. If I earn about $500 a day, I'd quit my day job. but seriously. Currently, I make a pathetic $70 per day. If I make about $100 per day, I'd be one happy camper. I'm low maintenance.

If $1K a month, I will be a very happy man, but I would not like to quite my job, because I think work is full of pleasure.

I quit my day job several years ago...if I were asked this question today, I'd say that I'd have to see at least $100 per day consistently from my blogging efforts to start thinking about leaving my day job.

I would say you should at least make as much as your current job if not more. This way you can have some assurance that you can live just from online revenue.
