    You need to have a good site with lots of useful content. Try to promote first and get traffic for it before you apply for adsense.

    Back in 2006 I got mine in a matter of few hours of submitting an application. And I've used a blank domain name that never got developed, so I wasn't quite sure about their standards but it worked out for me very easily... Basically, I just said "I'm in..." and that's it...
