Buy the domain name - $10
Hosting - $3 per month or so

How do you come up with $139?

Sounds like you might just want to start with blogger...

you've gotta look carefully at the godaddy pages. they automatically upgrade you and tick all sorts of upsells and crap if you dont look.

I got my refund off them now but basically i only went on there for a domain name but by the time i got to the checkout I bouth a website quick setup pack and took a analytics thing too.
What do i need to get a sales page up and out there? Is it a blog i need or a website? I have a domain name but nowhere to put it yet?

    Cheers,

Get a hosting plan. I have hosting by HostGator. It's like $6 or $7 per month. It's got more than enough space for ALOT of different domain names if you end up adding more.

It is the OS on the web hosting server. It does not matter what type of operating system you have on your home computer windows, mac, or linux. Linux is the most common OS for shared hosting. If you only need one page $139 a year is way to high and you should look beyond godaddy for web hosting.

GoDaddy are a time waster. Get your domain names from namecheap (no constant upselling) and host with hostgator, bluehost or hostmonster.

Yea, I've heard GoDaddy's hosting isn't top-notch. Buy your domain there and use HostGator to host it.

As micksss said, it doesn't matter which OS you run. I'm running Windows XP.

If you get a domain at GoDaddy, make sure you change the nameserver address to your hosting package. It'll be something like NS****.HostGator.com. The asterisks will be numbers, and are unique to your own hosting plan. I made the mistake of using ns1.hostgator.com because i thought everyone used the same nameserver address (why, i'm not sure), so don't make the same mistake.

Slow as far as propagation time? I'm still looking to get domains with faster propagation, so if you have any suggestions, I'll take 'em.

Thanks guys... I'm just looking into hostgator now and can see some nice low prices.

Once i have got my domain and host package how long does it take till u can see my site up? Is it almost instant? Whats the first easiest thing i should do to get some traffic to it?
