Your CTR increased or what? Using image ads in wallpaper sites works well though.

People tend to click more on images (although not all of the time) as it stands out more than texts

No way. CTR of text ads is much higher at around 6%, while image banners is only around 1.5%. But anyway, it mainly depends on the type of website.

I tested this a couple of weeks back and saw some drops. I put this down to there not being enough inventory for my site. The same adverts were showing up all the time regardless of the on page content. Also some of the image ads looked cheap and tacky which I am sure was lowering CTR.

I then tested text only and saw better results, but not as good as text and images together. So after those few days of testing I left things as they were originally ;)

Nor to me, i think it depends a lot on your market niche. If you´re in a wallpaper business i´m sure most of your clicks are people who just click them thinking the ad it´s an image.

Clicks on image ads in Wallpaper website are mostly invalid, because the visitors thought that would lead them to download the images.

This varies from site to site. Image related sites will have less words to crawl, inturn giving less less non related Ads. So images wrk well thr. On the other hand, on sites such as blogs or articles, thr r more words and people come to read as well. So Text work more there.

Yep, this is true! They are there to see images so these will definitely benefit more on a wallpaper site than say, oh a blog on search engine optimization for example

Thats good that they work well on your site. But i doubt they would work well on every site. Your site just suits image adds.:)

If the wallpaper is clickable e.g. to enlarge the size of the picture, then its a good strategy to ad an image ads. A very good one indeed! Resize all your wallpaper to match the ads and you're set to go.
