Hey, I thought i'd let you guys know about this plugin that will let you basically hide yourself from any Google Analytics code.. I use it on all my computers so i don't show up on my own site when i'm administering it for whatever reason, It gives me cleaner Analytics data to analyze.

Is anyone else doing this, or am I the only one?

That's a great idea. I actually wrote an article enumerating a few other ways to achieve this, but I should definitely add the plugin approach:

Thanks Helge, I was actually looking for something like this a week ago. Because I know with new sites I go back and forth a lot checking the design, the copy and making sure everything is running smooth and doing so will count as a visitor in analytics I'm guessing.

I wonder if say you look at your site via google search (meaning I type in a keyword or by brand name into google then visit the site) then hit the favourite button - does this count as a hit for that search phrase in analytics every time you visit your site from your favourites? Hopefully that makes sense?

Every visit on your site will trigger the analytics "track me"-function, and count as a hit.

When i write my blog posts I preview my post many times before i post them, using this addon i can exclude my own hits from the tracking so i can see more accurate data.

    Ghostery is an option too.
