Just curious, when it comes to guest permissions, which types of permissions work best for you?

Guests cannot read a thing or even view categories
Guests cannot read a thing, but can see what categories exist
Guests can read posts, but not reply
Guests can read posts AND reply

Curious in terms of BUILDING traffic, not so much in terms of preventing Spam (that's for a separate topic)

I prefer guests being able to read a limited number of threads, and then must register...that way i get the traffic...and the members...because if they read 20 threads...and then get annoyed because they have to register to read more...then i don't really need them as a visitor anyway

Guests should be able to read posts, just not post anything.

What about new forums...my forum gets a lot of uniques but few registrations..

Would it be a good idea - allowing guest to posts till there is sufficient content?

Sachin if you allow guests to post then things might just get out of hand. Leave alone the spam bots, people can take advantage of this anonymity post what they normally wouldn't if they had to register to post.

Same as everybody else said: Guests can read posts, but not reply.
That's the best setup you can have imho.

No, because then you'll have spam bots coming through and taking advantage of that.
