Quick Suggestion for New Directory Owners

This is more of a request than a suggestion. As it usually takes a while for the automatic submitters to find new directories, it would be awful nice if you turned off the "image verification" for the first 3-4 days after posting a new directory here. You could turn it back on whenever you notice a bunch of submissions in "vague" or inappropriate categories.

I know that a bunch of us would really appreciate the time savings.

    Thanks in advance.

That's a really good suggestion and on my future directory listings I'm going to do this.

It might be simpler to also create a database in the common directory scripts for DP'ers so that new directories can just import all the sites. I'm going to create a new one in WSNlinks and don't know howto put together a SQL import for it but I would love to fill up the cats with a premade list of DP approved sites. This would also solve the dilema.

Your right about the submit robots.
I had about 1000 free entries in mine before it was "found" by the bots.I just went paid or recip only. That stopped them.
But no image ver for new ones is a great idea.

Your idea would certainly make it easier but I am not sure it is a good idea to have directories with too much duplication.

I may be getting old, but I can't count the number of times I have to retype the image verification. I'm even having trouble with some of the 4 character numeric ones.

Agreed! I've given up on more than one website in the past because of not being able to get the code right!

    Good suggestion CanadianEh.

I agree on the retyping thing too. Sometimes 3 and 4 goes before you can guess what the letters/numbers are. Anyone that uses captcha should remember that it's designed to fool automated robots not human eyes. The easier to read it is the better.

One suggestion for those using PHPLD. Use numerals only. Letters can be quite confusing (U looks like V looks like J, O looks like Q looks like ZERO, L looks like I looks like ONE). Stick with just numbers and everyone will be much happier with you.

Thanks to all the directory owners that took off the verification. It really helps. It makes me anxious to visit this the directory solicitations forum.

    Very good suggestion...

Its a fact, that most of us now have many sites and takes a long time when fooling around with capta. Its actually worthless and i dont use it on any off my directories as all it does is slow down submitters like myself that have many sites and possible featured links to purchase if your directory qualifys in my price range.

Very good tip or suggestion CanadianEh....

    thx

I have Image validation turned off and if you turn on “unique session” on PHPLD you get almost 0 automated submissions.

Can you tell me where you can turn on “unique session”. Do you know what version it came out?
