Hi, For the last week or so, my directorie recieves about 100 submissions a day .. That is, approximately 500-600 pageviews per day. However, I've got zero revenue from ads ... zero clicks on adds in other words .. . Is this the ads company cheating .. or is it just this way .. directories doesn't yield any ad clicks .. ? any input is appreciated ..
Think of it this way . 80% of your trafic coms from submissions. Submissions are done by webmasters, wich wont click your ads ( they got their own ones ) Wich remains us with the rest 20% wich comes from search engines, and wich stay less than 30 secs on your page. Monetise your directory with paid submissions, not with adsense... At least thats my opinion .
Thanks Don for the input .. but, I think that no one is going to pay to submit to a PR0 Directory .. do you agree ?
No, you wont get any money from that, but you will get content. Be sure to select quality and not spammy links when you approve them, dont go MASS approving. It wont get you anywhere. Work on your backlinks, get a quality directory, eventually your pagerank will get up, then you can start seeing some results. Ultimatly, you might consider some CPM campaigns ... that would get you some extra bucks, if you really want to monetise it that way . try adbrite, or even here on the forums, I'm sure you will find something
Put your position as webmaster? I think you same with me won't to click ads from the other sites?isn't it?do not think ads revenue from directories..maybe you can sell feature link on your directory.
This is normal, webmasters and seo companies as visitors, they are more aware, they often wont need to click on an ad on your directory. If they do it might just be by accident.
makes sense ... webmasters and seo companies are more aware and often won't click on ads .. Thanks everyone @amstrad from all over the world but mainly US UK and India ..
The reason you are not making any money is - Your directory revolves around submitters, PR, adsense, empty categories, no unique content. Look at directories like dirjournal.com. Every domain starts with no content and PR0.....
Thanks mikey for the input ... What I understood from your post is to try raising the directory PR and then turn it into a paid directory ... is this what you are suggesting .. ?
Yes probably but it depends upon other factors too. Charging a small review fee will cut out 95% of the crap submissions and you can spend the time populating your directory yourself with good sites.
Put your efforts into building quality backlinks, SEO & internet marketing for now. Populate your directory with quality listings yourself and make it a paid directory. With time, when your PR & SERPs improves, you'll reap big time.
