Just want to ask ... if a product has a website that features subscribing to a news letter and a person who I referred subscribed and bought the product say 2 days after .. am I getting the commission ? Or is that considered as commission leak ?

Do you become an affiliate for a website that has a news letter subscription option ?

    Thanks .. :)

No, you only get a commission, if a person buys from the website.

When they subscribe to a newsletter via email, a publisher simply promotes his website there without any affiliate links.

Cookies work for 60 days. You will get a commission, if a person comes back and buys the product from the merchant's page during that period.

However, if he buys the product from the email that publisher have sent them, you will get nothing.

That's only if the publisher includes their own affiliate link in the newsletter but no good vendors should do that anyway. If they just include a link to the website then you should still get the commission.

Terryd is right... no decent publisher would stuff his own cookie into an email series ... whether through obvious means (a hoplink) or more subtle techniques you might not catch at first glance.

My advice is to sign up for the newsletter / bonus and follow the links --> check the CB page for your aff id.

If it's there you can feel relatively re-assured that the publisher has your interests in mind.

If the is no aff id, or a different one than your own, run for the hills and don't look back!

Once I see an pop-up optin form in any product I run as I no longer want to waste time and money building
    lists for someone else.
In fact, I'd tested a lot of CB products in the past (I mean, those products sale pages included optin forms) by
opting in through my own CB affiliate links to receive email offers. 100% sucked! My CB id was never there.

So, I don't care how hot or how good is that product. I don't promote if ever there's an pop-up optin.

You mean your CB id wasn't in the email?
It never should be. as was pointed out above - if there is no hoplink in the email (just regular link to website directly) the old cookie stays and affiliate get his/her commission.

Those email pop-ups on vendors websites have nothing to do with affiliates.

If a person subscribes to that, they will simply start receiving vendor's emails, which he has set up in Aweber or whatever he is using.
