Quick Question About The "meta name="author"" Tab - Do I Need It?

    Hi,

    On my website I have a line at the top in the meta tags saying the following:

    <meta name="author" content="Dave Smith/ Email: /" />

    I'm just wondering, do I need this line? And also, can I replace the @ with the word "at" instead, as I'm guessing if I was to include my email address then some kind of e-mail harvester program is going to be able to spam me?

    Thanks for any help

    Nope. Deleting the meta tag will not effect your website design or whatsoever.

    Yes, you can replace the @ symbol with at.

    Like every other meta besides robots, keywords and description, 99.999999% of visitors - INCLUDING search engines - could give a flying fig.
