Is pagerank based solely on the amount of backlinks a site has? If not, what else? I want to boost mine. Thanks in advance.
Backlinks effect pagerank the most, there are theories about other possiblities like domain age and what not, but your best bet is quality related backlinks that themseleves have high pagerank values. The way internal pagerank works you want backlinks point to multiple pages on your site, not just one. Below is a great example. "In theory, all your pages should some how inter-link with each other, from a 5 deep link I should be able to still access the other pages via link structure Taking that into account lets review a site that has 500 pages and about 20,000 backlinks, we would want atleast every one of those pages getting 300-500 unique backlinks to each one, and the rest pointing to main pages.
And why do you want to boost yours ? Wouldn't be a wiser thing to concentrate on rankings you whant to get a higher pr : Get backlinks with PR as higher as bether
PR is a by product of trying to rank better, not the end game. If you want more of it then get your links on high pr relevant authority pages that don't have many links already, do not nofollow and have not been penalized for selling links.
I want a better pagerank because mine is zero, and having some sort of rank in the scheme of things would open up some new opportunities for affiliates and advertising. Perhaps...what's the difference?
Well pagerank doesn't necessarily translate into search engine ranking positions, especially for the keywords you want to target. But if it's pagerank you want, in addition to getting high quality backlinks, constantly adding fresh new content helps as well.
My page rank dropped from 3 to 2 and the SERP were effected as I went from #2 on google to #9 after this update was effected. All other backlinks remain intact.
one of my site became PR1 in just a month! and i think i updated it only once or twice, and if you will look into the site, it's almost empty. it's a fansite, but i havent put up videos, audios, article or even picture/galler on it, and yet it became PR1..... the index have a news section though powered by cutenews. and when i checked where the traffic is coming from, i saw 'yahoo search', my site is on the first page of the result hehe
Pagerank is based upon the number of Good neighbor hood Backlinks you have. If you have bad Backlinks then your PR will depreciate otherwise your PR will increase but it does so in each quarter of the year and not instant.
Well considering pr is updated on a fluid basis a long time before the pr toolbar is updated I can only conclude there is no direct link between pr and serp in your example.
Dear friend, Page rank have a lot of factors But i know only one that is more back links from good PR site.
I'm not...I just want to make sure I'm heading in the right direction. Thanks everyone for the great info.
