This is just sad the logos here were so nice..guess no n00b can will get good logo's not watermarked anymore! right guys? ..please watermark!
Just because you don't watermark does not mean he can take and use your work. If you are serious about it, send him a cease and desist letter. I took this one of the net http://www.utsystem.edu/OGC/INTELLECTUALPROPERTY/contract/cease.htm: Dear [name]: It has come to my attention that you have made an unauthorized use of my copyrighted work entitled [name of work] (the "Work") in the preparation of a work derived therefrom. I have reserved all rights in the Work, first published in [date], [and have registered copyright therein]. Your work entitled [name of infringing work] is essentially identical to the Work and clearly used the Work as its basis. [Give a few examples that illustrate direct copying.] As you neither asked for nor received permission to use the Work as the basis for [name of infringing work] nor to make or distribute copies, including electronic copies, of same, I believe you have willfully infringed my rights under 17 U.S.C. Section 101 et seq. and could be liable for statutory damages as high as $150,000 as set forth in Section 504(c)(2) therein. I demand that you immediately cease the use and distribution of all infringing works derived from the Work, and all copies, including electronic copies, of same, that you deliver to me, if applicable, all unused, undistributed copies of same, or destroy such copies immediately and that you desist from this or any other infringement of my rights in the future. If I have not received an affirmative response from you by [date give them about 2 weeks] indicating that you have fully complied with these requirements, I shall take further action against you. Very truly yours,
Try this: 1. Send a cease and desist letter. (mentioned by xpressions) Look up the law and letter format here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Millennium_Copyright_Act 2. Send an e-mail to their webhost and ask them to take down the copyright image, i'm sure webhosts have strict rules on that. Look up their site here: http://www.dnsstuff.com/ (Don't abuse it though) Seems that HostGator is their host: HostGator Terms of service: "...Use of our services to infringe upon any copyright or trademark is prohibited...." http://www.hostgator.com/tos.shtml CONTACT: http://www.hostgator.com/contact.shtml
I got a response from the2dollarpage: I let him know that's not a legit excuse, but I wouldn't be expecting payment anytime soon. . I would go ahead and leave him a negative itrader.
Amazing really, it's not good enough for his site but he'll still steal it anyway but that's ok cos it's only for a little while Pathetic. Thanks on behalf of the other members for attempting to sort it out
I don't think the site was down because of someone here, it looked like a programing error. It is up to the owner of the work, to send out those e-mails to see if anything can be done. Especially to the their webhost who should delete it off their servers.
