try places like digg, twitter and stumble my digg account has a PR of 2 now because i use it alot and i comment on high pr pages within digg
Why not use social bookmarking sites that without "nofollow"? This way generates backlinks instantly and Google will be index these quickly.
browser around on link building bible, there are a few sites that i list that allow you to add your link to your profile, as a dofollow.... and whenever i find more, i always post them there....

try to signup on many forum, create your signature and start posting. It will create some traffic, slow but sure.
Try this social bookmarking list. There's a few nofollow'ed bookmark sites in the list but they are still good for traffic. Also there are some pligg based SB sites in the list. Pligg scripts use 301 permanent redirects, but still help to improve serps. Happy link building!
