    Hello,
I guess this is my first post. I thought surely I'd posted before, but I guess I've just lurked so far

Anyway, considering the whole landing page relevancy thing...does anybody have any advice on guidlines for a simple, yet effective landing page to avoid url competition with adwords.

    Simple page with some articles?
    "Review" type page?
Something I haven'nt thought of kind of page?

Also, what would the "penalty" be for a simple "click here to go there" kind of page?

    Thanks

Are you talking about Adwords landing pages? If so then exclude them from the spiders as you don't want them being tagged as doorway pages.

    1. Re-enforce the offer of the advert. If the advert says. 2 ducks for a dollar, then that should be the headline on the page.

    2. Make it INCREDIBLY easy for people to buy, a MASSIVE buy now button will do it.

    3. Place third party re-enforcements to build credibility. Paypal verified, credit cards etc.

    4. Ask for the order LOTS.

    5. keep the page really short, just info on the product (answer all the questions who, what, when., why , where, How), and image and a 'BUY NOW' button

Make different landing pages for each offer (advert). I know it is hard work but your sales will sky rocket.

People are also inherently lazy, so if you're just doing a lead based ad, just use the big button method instead of reviews. You want them in and out of there.

I think that, ideally, your landing page should provide some value to your visitor - i.e. information regarding or explanation of the benefits of the product, reviews, etc. This will help you to develop credibility with your visitors, which should consequently make them more likely to click your link and check out the product you're promoting. :)
