Quick Advice for website needed (beginner-question)

A local business man approached me to give him some help for his webpage.

the design is out of question for several reasons.

please have a quick look at www.lotiff.com and the source-code of some pages.

I probably need to restructure everything, from titles to meta's.... on some subs are 50 styles defined.

Is it worth the work or should I suggest them a totally new page.
One of the 2 owner made that page and is a kind of proud of it, so the whole topic is a bit sensitive... As the whole thing is in the Philippines you also can imagine that there is not that much money behind and I want to help them a bit as a friend... but that project looks like quite some work...

    any suggestions?

    Thanks in advanced

    *shudders*

It would save so much bandwidth if all of those styles and scripts were external (and easier to read). I would restructure it a bit, make it at least HTML 4.01 and get rid of the tables - use <div>s instead.

Make sure it looks similar to the previous design, I would fix up the code first before changing the style of it though.

To tell the truth it would probably be easier to start from scratch, but that's going to be pretty hard to explain though.

Anyway, best of luck with the site. :)

thanks mate... that's absolutely my opinion too.

I may suggest them a kind of clean up, some onsite stuff but a complete new second domain really optimized for their keywords (like philippines, dumaguete. real estate, subdivision...)and target-market and from the new one linked to specific projects.

With the existing one I think they have no chance to show up on "G" where they want to be... (but other opinions welcome)
and I guess I need all the luck I can get, when I start to explain that...

    cheers

the cleaner the coding the better the ranking too use less cgi and if you wanna rank well for those keywords you mentioned above then put them in all the important places title, meta description, headings etc...

my advice is to try and help them a bit, fix the big things and leave some of the little finicy things out, it looks easier to start from scratch but your better off just fixing it up a bit

    thanks guys,
Even I knew that somehow, I am happy to get it confirmed...

Right now I am about to get that into nice words, that I don't offend one of the company owners who spent the last 2 years "creating" that. a clean up and a second page is the solution IMHO.

At the end we talking about a company who want to attract people willing to spend some hundred thousands of dollars in a house and lot..
