Quick Adsense Question Regarding Content/Earnings

    Hi there,

    I've heard that you can select certain sections of text or content on your website and prevent google from taking any notice of the content. I was wondering, can you do this to "trick" the search engine in to thinking the site has different content, meaning you will display adsense links which are different to the real content of your site? :confused: Hope this makes sense...

    Basically one of my sites would have a quite high ppc in adsense but some of the content on the site brings the ppc down, and so i'm wondering if theres anything I can do about this to bring my adsense income up a little.

    Thanks for any help.
    Matt

    Title and meta tags seem to have big effect. Here is code to try and get best paying ads listed.

    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->
    content you want ads shown for
    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->
    content you do not want ads for
    <!-- google_ad_section_end(weight=ignore) -->

    From the Google Adsense Help:

    "In addition, please keep in mind that this feature should only be used to emphasize significant sections of your site's relevant content. It is against our program policies to manipulate the ad targeting to result in ads that are not relevant to the content of your pages."

    It's not ok to use this to "trick the search engine in to thinking the site has different content".

    Ahh okay, thanks a lot you two :)

    When I say to trick the search engine, I don't really intend it in a bad way - with some of my site content, the adsense CPC is about $0.90 whereas a very slight variation is just $0.04 CPC.
    Obviously I would like the keyword which is about $0.90, which means trying to hide the content which brings the value of adsense down.

    Thanks for the help.

    Well, I guess it's ok to target the more valuable keywords, as long as you don't mislead the crawlers to think your site it's about something that it's not. :)

    I use the "section target ignore" sometimes to "hide" blog posts that I know will make the ads disappear - like news about plane crashes and such. That kind of content bring only PSA's.

    I don't write much about such topics, but I think this is a useful tip.

    Thanks for your kind comment, it really made me happy! :)
