Hello all I'm putting together a list of questions a web developer would ask their website customer/client when creating a new website: Here's what I have so far in brief form, wondering if there are any others I may have missed when dealing with new website customers 1. Who is the website for? 2. Who is the target market and what are their demographics? 3. Tell us about your business 4. What are your website goals? 5. Are you the decision maker for the website project? 6. What type of websites do you like to visit? 7. Is your domain name ready? 8. Do you require website hosting? 9. What is your current website? 10. Do you have content ready? 11. Will your content be static or dynamic? 12. Have you thought out a website structure? 13. What about website design? 14. What are your project timelines? 15. Functionality of your website - what are the items you want your website to do? 16. What is your budget for the project? 17. What is your full contact information? 18. Have you explored natural search engine optimization (SEO) techniques? 19. What have you considered for your website marketing strategy? 20. How will you measure the success of your website? 21. When do you want to get started?
Would almost never ask 5 and never ask 6 - your designing a site for a childrens charity and the person answers question 6 as hardcore gay porn then I dont really see how this helps you 11 wouldnt ask either, people wont know the difference, it is for you to decide/ recommend on these things unless the client states up front. You may ask a leading question such as if they want to be able to update the site themselves and then if the answer is yes, if they have HTML skills our would prefer a word like interface (ie to establish if they need a cms)
