Questions regarding referrals

    Hello,

I am new with all this referral subject and have a few questions:

    1. Why most of you are hiding your referral ID/link? (I see various techniques like TinyURL, using Iframes etc...)

    2. If I subscribe to an affiliate program via somebody's referral link, will I get less that if I am subscribing directly ?

    3. What is referral spamming ?

    Thanks,
    Yoel

    1. most people are less likely to sign up if they see a referral url, and also there are seo benefits for not having direct seo links on a page
    2. nope, the referral commission is paid by the network, not from your earnings
    3. if you 'spam' your referral link, ie posting on this forum saying how great a program is with your referral link prominently placed.

No you should not get less for signing up through someones referral link. Their referrals earnings get deducted from the merchants/affiliate programs owners money and not the affiliates. There is even a few programs that will do the opposite and pay the referral and you money for you joining through their referral link. These programs are very few though.
