Questions please from a newbie on logo contest

Hi, I am new to here and have questions. If I run a logo contest, how do I pay the winner, and is the logo then mine to do as I will with it, do I not need to sign anything or have a release ext. Also can it have a TM added as a faux trademark?? thanks so much.

 

Usually we do it via PayPal, but you can use other methods. If you get the logo that should be yours, to be on the safe side you can specify that on the contest rules.

you'll probably want something written (google "work for hire contract") if you're serious about all rights being turned over to you. otherwise the law states that the rights remain with the designer.

If they enter a logo it is yours. That should be in the contest guidelines.

 

I don't think there has ever been a dispute over logo rights being handed over after a contest. All the designers here are good about it, look out for the established ones, also make sure you're not buying some stock image or a template - always ask.
