I am trying my best to scoop up a .com domain that would be perfect for my new business. I have placed the minimum $59 bid with SnapNames and also placed a backorder with GoDaddy. I was also thinking of placing a bid with Pool.com and Namejet.com, but from everything I've researched they seem like a ripoff. On the other hand, the domain is currently registered with the registrar enom.com, which seems to be affiliated with Namejet, so maybe this isn't the best strategy. Can someone please provide some guidance? Also, the domain currently has a status of "pendingDelete", but is has a last updated date of 2009-11-25. My understanding is that the domain should be released on the 6th day following the last updated date, but here I am on the 7th day and still nothing? Is the 6th day thing a rule, or are there other variables that come into play? Lastly, I noticed that on enom's whois, the status is listed as "pendingDelete", while on other sites (network solutions, godaddy, etc.) whois shows "redemptionPeriod". Any idea why the discrepancy? I assume that enom is correct since they are the registrar of record, but not sure why the others are showing a different status? Maybe this is related to the fact that it hasn't been released yet? Thanks for any guidance you can provide! Jonathan
Hmm... This is what Verisign shows: Registrar: ENOM, INC. Whois Server: whois.enom.com Referral URL: http://www.enom.com Name Server: DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM Name Server: DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM Name Server: DNS3.NAME-SERVICES.COM Name Server: DNS4.NAME-SERVICES.COM Name Server: DNS5.NAME-SERVICES.COM Status: redemptionPeriod Updated Date: 25-nov-2009 Creation Date: 13-oct-2003 Expiration Date: 13-oct-2009 and this is what enom.com shows for the same domain: Nameserver: DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM DNS4.NAME-SERVICES.COM DNS3.NAME-SERVICES.COM DNS5.NAME-SERVICES.COM DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM Updated-date: 2009-11-25 Created-date: 2003-10-14 Registration-expiration-date: 2009-10-14 Status: pendingDelete It has to go to pendingDelete status *after* the redemption period right, so wouldn't enom be more updated? Maybe enom is just showing the wrong status? Thanks for any clarification you can provide.
