As I have stated before, that is what I use Wikipedia as. A place to look for links to actual scholarly research on a subject, or a place to get general information (such as the name of an island or land mass) which I then verify elsewhere. It is a good resource, but I do not view it as a reliable or trustworthy source of information.

*takes a deep breath* I am sorry that I interpreted your statement to apply to all people.

I have to agree. Some people do follow this tactic, and I can see why you would say it of me. However even when a Wiki agrees with me on something, I don't use links from it, and I often discourage others who are agreeing with me from using Wikipedia, though you haven't had a chance to see me do so yet, so I can see why you would ascribe this tactic to me.

However, stating that a source has little or no sway with you, or challenging the accuracy of a source of information is a valid debate technique. One should not, however, both use a source, and attack it at alternate times.

I agree that it is a great reference to be used to find information that one should then verify elsewhere. It is a collection of a large amount of information, however I highly doubt it's accuracy due to the lack of scholarly verification and review of this information. Because of this I have stated that I do not value links to it. I do not, however, demean it's use as a resource for -finding- information, merely state my opinion that any information taken from Wikipedia should be verified elsewhere.

Not everything needs a scholarly verification.

That's why God gave us common sense ;)

And the encyclopedia in question went through and did a line by line rebuttal of the study in question that made that claim. It was pretty much proved that the study in question was a bunch of rubbish with the authors having a personal bias going in.

Common sense isn't so common and most things (especially in debates) do benefit from scholarly verification. My attributing a quote to Jefferson instead of Franklin and missing a couple of key words was a prime example.

Sometimes it can be all too tempting to grab a quick reference to save time when taking an extra half an hour to verify something could save some embarrassment later. In the case of that quote it has been referenced so often that it is almost "common knowledge" so when I saw it attributed to whom I remembered it being attributed to I didn't question as I normally do.

In regards to Wikipedia I am particularly critical of it because I do not know the motivation of the people who post things as they are anonymous. I inherently distrust any information that is posted anonymously.

Thats what I dont like , normally i believe there is something which created us but i dont believe how Bible or Koran is explaining !

You are saying that Bible has invented things , hmm , does this mean it is not a holy book ?

There are some questions in this world that will never get a response as our human intelligence is really low at the moment and we are just using 3-4% of our brain , in the future maybe we will realize what the truth is !

How comes Bible or Quran doesnt mention anything about aliens and dinosaurs (we have facts that dinosaurs used to live but it is not mentioned)

    Thanks

Maybe you are, but the rest of us are not. The myth says we use 10% of our brain. So you about 30% of normal. I'd look into that LOL. Anyways, its not true. Read here:

Ok let us make it 10% ! If you get my point , do not google whether we are using 5 or 10 % ! Even 10 % is really low in order to understand some mysterious things in this life !

The bible does, in the creation story, where it says that God created all the animals....:)

Actually, both books were written long after the dinosaurs...the Bible is about 3000 years old for its oldest parts in the OT, The NT at the oldest is roughly 1950 years for Pauls letters, and the Koran is even younger...

here is something for you to think about in regards to the dinosaurs:

Everything that is living on the earth has an age: trees, grass, animals, etc. Lets use trees for now. When God make the earth, He didn't just make a big ball of dirt and water and then plant little seeds everywhere or put baby animals in places, right? God would have created some things like trees that already have "age". So even when God created the world, some things were already old. Maybe God did that with dinosaur bones as well, put them in the ground to keep us guessing.:D

That's right. I did a study this subject years ago and it really amazes me what happens when we develop our brain to use 12%.

    Others would call it miracles.

In fact there are great studies of Jesus and master Gurus and that it can be trained to reach further. The Instinct section is almost gone completely though, we can reach 12% if we exercise our brains.

After your post, I think you are running at 3 or 4% Clearly you did not read the link. We do -not- use 10% of our brain.

Your kidding right? Some people on this forum have shown that most likely they only use 10% of their brain. Either that or they may be missing 90%

I'm pretty sure it is the later...

Anyway, I would guess you would probably need to use more than 10% of your brain just for motor functions.

I think the 90 percent is busy digesting the overload of all of the commy TV, the commercials, reruns of Oprah and whatever else is on the tube.
