Your source of being/becoming an atheist? and atheism? references please, I'm curious

 

You wish to know me that personally? I suppose I could share. I've been raised to use my own mind, not to succumb to conformity andto have an open mind. I take things as they come, and I don't judge people/things on petty or base instincts. I am not naive however, I'm quite the contrary. So my source I suppose is just my balanced upbringing. May I ask yours?

I was raised as a catholic, ran away (was sooo dissapointed, I even worked for a vatican company so money was not an issue) searched for the truth and therefore searched all major religions.

After backsliding I found my way to Jesus again as a new-born (not catholic).
I'm not a showcase for christianity and tend to look at everything critically; priests and pastors have had hard times with me, but I do defend Jesus and his sovereignty over my life and the universe.

I believe that the process of more understanding of his nature and teachings are not completed in general and that God isn't finished with me yet.

I have had many miracles in my live that were of supernatural power. I don't like to talk about this, because its so unbelieveable.

Not to forget to mention:
I also practised supersensonic (stuff usually the gurus do) with success(university oif trees) and was interested in various kinds of occultism.
I'd never recommend to anyone. It's dangerous. I needed miracles to get out of this and I got it.

Arnie, how can you be 100% certain those supernatural powers were from God and not some other means? Supernatural powers used for physical miracles were not used again after the last of the disciples (at the pouring out of holy spirit at Pentecost 33CE) died. Because there was no need for these types of miracles. The job was done. Then there was the awaiting of the handing over of the kingship to Jesus ( in 1914 ).

All the writings of the 66 books which make up the Bible were all we needed from that point on to do the will of God. We needed no more proof that God existed and that Jesus was his only begotten Son.

The old testament is about love, not hate. God loved the choseon ones so much he was patient to the extreme. So patient, that he let them go about there ways hoping they will sooon realise they needed him more than anything else in the world. How many times did he show them favour after so many times they let him down. Now, how many times would you have shown them favour after your people did to you what the Israelites did to him?

Forgiveness is the very key here.

I am not trying to offend you here. However, I study the Bible with nearly 7 million others around the world and we all explore the whole Bible, not leaving any stone unturned.

To the person who does not believe in the Trinity:

When Abraham went to sacrifice his son, did not an "Angel of God" appear and tell him to stop the sacrifice? Was not this Angel of God referring to himself in the first person? If this Angel of God was also NOT God, how would have God reacted to Abrahams NOT killing of his son? How would this have been counted righteousness in his behalf?

The Old Testament is old.
The New Testament is New.

You start your life on Earth with milk. Then when you grow up a bit, the rule changes. You have to start eating now "solid" food.

People in the past were more "barbaric" and cruel. Jesus came to change that.
There is a better way of life.
No more stoning of sinners. Since you committed sins yourself, you cannot stone somebody else.
This is a big difference between the New Testament and the Old Testament.
A Christian is the one who practices the teachings from the New Testament. You are confusing Christianity with the Old Testament laws.

Darwin explained it quite well and if you look at humans from 100 years ago and compare them to now you will see we are much taller, larger, stronger , faster, and live longer (A nod to medicine for helping that) than our ancestors....

Agree with you that people now are taller, larger etc.
I would add also now people develop earlier. Since the life conditions are much better.
1400-2000 years ago people at 9-10 years of age didn’t reach maturity (were not physically marriage ready) as some people (religious) believe now. That can be easily proved.
Women did marry at around 15 years of age though. Which continued up to the beginning of 20th century.

Yes my grandmother married at 14 to my grandfather 22...now a man goes to jail if he were to take a bride of that age....at least in most of the USA I do not know about the rest of the world so I will not speak of that I do not know.

And while I have no idea if darwin is right it would seem to me if there were a god he would have made just one religion...especially given he is to be so intelligent...

Now you want to say that healing is from the devil??? Sorry, your publishing is way off. My friend, Jesus has healed my wrists of carpal tunnel and the touch of God can not be mistaken. The healing is not of satan, if it was it would be to trick or pull the glory from God, but God receives the glory for the healing. You may not experience these miracles in your life, and you should ask why not? Don't miss Christ because you have a pre-concieved belief about how He does things. If it matches up to the Word and God gets the glory, then most likely it is of God - See Jesus' life for plenty of examples of just that.

 

There are signs and miracles also from Satan, black and white magic are amongst it. I was into white magic if you understand that better, but that doesn't mean that it is the opposite of black magic, - both are from satan.

There's no doubt that the day of Penetcost was a Holy Spirit event as Jesus promised to send after he acended. If we all make ourselves sensitive to him we still can experience his power and miracles.

How can you be so sure about that God doesn't send miracles anymore? Has he retired? I don't think so. As you have learned and may still learn.

Jesus said, "you shall do the same as I do, even more"

That's the calling my friend. God doesn't forsake a real seeker and never will. Have you ever observed when God's chasing people, that's a miracle too.
