Questions before joiing a affilaite program

when you guys look at new affiliate programs or promote directly with the merchant what questions do you ask besides the obvious?

I know I typically ask the cookie duration
what kind of reports
tracking etc

what do you guys ask? Im trying to get a more general questionaire done before joining more programs or networks - because I need to start to filter through some of my programs

 

the most important is the realtime reports

 

Ask for a list of best selling products and start to create content around those products. Any merchant with an affiliate manager should be able to send you that list.

When doing PPC ask for the countries where they ship to. Only USA? Worldwide? When merchants ship only to USA for example let your ad show up only for USA traffic. Otherwise you can lose quite a bit money.

 

Conversion is very important and also resources for the products to promote them and the support.

 

Commission, conversion and relevancy would be key things that I would look for.

 

I definitely check their PPC policy out... more often than not when you make sales for smaller companies they will change their policy around and void them, but if you've got a copy of their policies saved, you have some ammo to fire back with.

 

friggin awesome thanks all for your participation - I tend to ask the same things all the time especialyl joining a network - but I guess the questions are pretty much the same if you go direct with the merchant?
