    Questions about the Hair Salon Business

    Hey,

    I have some questions about the hair salon business. Are the stylists on splits, hourly wages or monthly salaries???

    Further, renovations - how much should one expect to spend?

    Also, is there a forum on the hair salon business???

    My understanding is that most stylists "rent" their chairs for a fixed price and they keep whatever they make.

    But I'm not in the business.

    Generally they rent a station per month or split money per haircut/style/etc.

    I dont agree with the replies above, renting out chairs is not the way to go.

    some salons that have lots, 5-10 stations may only rent 1 sometimes 3 but the majority of the stations are owned and staff are employed to work there.
