    I am wondering...

for seo people who use press releases:

do you refraing from posting the press release on your own website to avoid duplicate content issues?

if you distribute a press release and the text is found on dozens of sites, it would probably be a good idea not to also have the press release posted on your own site...correct?

    thanks

I don't see a problem with posting it on your own site. Remember though it could cause the page that you post your press release on to go supplemental.

Actually, you should always try to post it on your own site. It's kind of bad form not to. You should be archiving things in a sort of press room, media kit, or something similar if you expect any real coverage from one release, or over time. If it really bugs you too much, either post it to your site before distributing it (what I'd recommend), or just link from your site to a copy online (a bit less professional).

I just posted one on today's post. I do it all the time. I had three submitted this week alone.
It doesn't bother me one bit, bit it's kind of my format.
So far I have not seen adverse seo effects, and all of my pages are indexed just fine.
You cannot avoid duplicate content totally. Maybe arranged differently, but, many sites are about the same thing, just a different twist.

I could probably put it in a section of the site and link to it with "no follow" tags.

I have heard this will make it so it won't dilute your PR
