    Hi DP members,

I have some questions that would like to have your advice. It's about PR and backlink.
I just start building popularity of my personal blog. Previously it was host on blogspot.com. About a month ago I moved it to my own domain name. I've checked that my blog have about +400 backlinks. Some of them are backlinks from PR1,2,3,4,5,6 domains. It has Alexa rank of 901,423. Now my domain - papandut(dot)com - have PR 0.

I saw a lot of threads in Domains section about people sell domains with PR. I've checked some of them and found that most of the domains have low numbers of backlinks or even zero backlink and very low Alexa rank. Some domains are new registered domains. Some of them even just 1-3 months old. Even my 1 month-old personal blog domain have more backlinks than those PR1,2,3 domains.

    My questions are:

    1. Is high number of backlinks related to high PR ?
    2. How can domains with low numbers of backlink can have PR1, PR2 or even PR3 ?
    3. How can a new domain (less than 3 months old) have high PR ?
    4. Is it worth to buy a domain with PR but only have low numbers of banklinks? Will they PR be lost when Google do the PR update while they still have low numbers of backlinks?
    5. When will be the next schedule of PR update ?
    6. When the schedule come, do you have a prediction what PR my domain could have ? Hopefully more than current PR0 :)

    So many questions :)
Thanks a lot in advance for your advices.

It is possible for a site with a low number of inbound links to have a decent PR. If those links are coming from high PR sites then you get more link juice. I would rather have one link from a high PR site such as Adobe or a high ranking edu or gov site than 100 blog links. Quality over quantity is a good rule of thumb.

Exactly as textbox said. It all depends of the quality of the backlink.

    1. Is high number of backlinks related to high PR ?
Yes, its how you gain higher PR.
    2. How can domains with low numbers of backlink can have PR1, PR2 or even PR3 ?
Any domain can get PR no matter how good or crappy.
    3. How can a new domain (less than 3 months old) have high PR ?
building higher PR relevant backlinks fast.
    4. Is it worth to buy a domain with PR but only have low numbers of banklinks? Will they PR be lost when Google do the PR update while they still have low numbers of backlinks?
worth it if the name is good and gets any traffic. PR will prolly go down cause the old owner will remove any links he has, just build some your self and it should be ok.
    5. When will be the next schedule of PR update ?
Ya, never know. normally every 3 months but there has been a few suprises lately.
    6. When the schedule come, do you have a prediction what PR my domain could have ? Hopefully more than current PR0
we can't tell, it should be easy to get a PR2 though
