Hello, I have a site which is called www."brandname".com. I also have the domain with another extension, i.e. www."brandname".net. The website is located on only one server, so they are pointing to the same site. But all internal links depend on the extension (so if you are on the .com site every link on the site is to .com and vice versa), so the links are not absolute, but relative. Is this bad for my ranking? I am also considering on getting the domain www."keyword""brandname".com. This perticular keyword is the most important keyword for me, but also yields millions of hits when searched. Would this new domain (which would redirect or point to the regular site), hurt my ranking?
Be careful how you are doing these redirects. Google might be seeing different versions of your site and you'll get hit with a duplicate content penalty.... You don't need to buy domains and redirect them...just optimize your site for the keywords you want..
Spot on SEO Ranter, the domain name itself is only a small factor related to Organic SEO. Work on your content !!
How long does it take to get these penalties removed if they are in effect on me? How should I go about the redirects? I need for certain the two domains with different extensions.
