Questions about Google Images and Indexing

I currently run a gaming site that is heavily based on images. About 95 percent of my traffic is coming through google images but I have noticed that there are only a few galleries that are actually bringing in the traffic.

What is the best way to optimize my site for indexing images? I've heard that Google indexes images every 3 to 6 months, is this true and is there a way to predict the next update? Also, I have read that there may be problems with frames and other such things, I currently have an image popin for browsing images. Thought?

I would also like to optimize the galleries for indexing on the main google page as they update quicker. Basically, what do I need to change to make google recognize my images easier.

The site is gamescreenie [dot] com

    Thank you for the help!

Well the main factor google sees while indexing images is the "ALT" tags. so be sure to keep proper keywords in the ALT tags

Yes the ALT is important and the content of that page ... I receive ~ 100 visits per day with Google Images

Yes ALT tag for the images is very important. Also make the image name as the file/destination file name instead of giving something unrelated.
