Questions about Domain Names

So I'm very new to the Domain Buying & Selling business, extremely new. So I'm still reading/learning what I can. I recently bought my first domain name on GoDaddy for resale and I know there is a 60-day lock before you can transfer it to another Registrar (like from GoDaddy to Namecheap). However, I'm looking on Go Daddy Auctions and if I were to buy a domain from there, would I still have to wait 60 days before transferring it to another domain site?

Another question, is it better to wait 2 months before selling your domain name or when is the best time in your opinions?

    Thank you in advance!

You can sell your domain at any time. I guess selling is not prohibited. Though nothing can be said about GoDaddy. They suck!

First off, transferring domains between registrars costs money, so limiting the amount of transfers you make should be your first course of action. After all, it cuts into the profit ;) . The 60 day lock (godaddy) has been done away with, you can now "manually" unlock your domains.

Moving a domain to another registrar is called a transfer, moving it within a registrar is called an account change. Account changes are free :) . To answer the last the question, how long to wait? It all depends on the domain and possibly the site you are selling the domain at. Generally speaking, if you are buying a domain to sell, than you shouldn't waste anytime pushing it.

60 days transfer lock is an ICANN policy, which has nothing to do with manually unlocking the name for transfer at Registrar side. You can submit the transfer, it will be simply automatically rejected by the Registry, so you WILL have to wait for 60 days after registration or previous transfer.

Regarding the last question - depends on the situation. If you know you technically are unable to transfer out to another registrar - why listing the name then? It will cause only frustration both for you and your client. However, if you are going to push the name to another account within the same registrar - you are free to go at once, sweetpea69 is right.

If you are not sure whether your name needs to be pushed or transferred out after purchase (and how can you be sure about that?) - than waiting for 60 days before listing the name is the best course of actions, IMHO.
