Questions about COOP

Discussion in 'Co-op Advertising Network' started by niz85, Dec 20, 2004.

I have just started using COOP... here are some questions I have in my mind.

    1. How will I know coop is working for me? I mean how can I know where my coop ads are displaying?

    2. In "my pool of advertisements", what happens if I change the weight (from 1 to 5) of my ads?

    Thanks
    Niz

Same question I had about changing weight from 1 to 5. I changed them all to 5 to see what it will do.

If your account is enabled, and your ads are enabled, your ads are in the rotation. Changing the weight of all your ads to 5 is the same as having them all at 1. It only matters when you assign different numbers to different ads.

Or best yet, ina couple of days, start checking your backlinks in MSN beta and Yahoo... they'll show up faster there.

On a similar note, if I have 2 links and have 1 enabled and the other disabled with different keyphrases then swap them over so that the other one is enabled, does this new one immediately go into the network or is there a time lapse and therefore a disadvantage to me?

The server-side caching mechanism basically makes it so it can be up to 100 hours for ads to be fulling deployed (or undeployed) from the network.

Thanks Shawn, so any change I make will take 100 hours to take place but i don't loose any 'air time', correct?

    You could...

As Shawn says, it takes up to 100 hours...

Worst-case scenario will take you out of the rotation for up to 100 hours, that is if:

    1) By chance the old ad gets replaced by someone else's immediately...
    and
    2) Your new ad takes 100 hours to enter somebody's cache.

Are you in the business of SEO? Do you have an interest in search and search results? Do you know how Google works?

If any of the above can be answered with 'yes' then you shouldn't ask that question jwbond... It's answered so many times now that it gets silly.

If you don't like the VB search (like me) then use site:forums.digitalpoint.com behind your search phrase in Goolge. 90% of all Coop questions have been answered before.

What if you have zero weight? Are your ads still showing?

Thanks for the quick answer. :)
What's your opinion Shawn? Coop ads are active on my site, but since I have zero weight I get no benefit from the Coop. Should I keep the ads on until I get some weight? Will my weight increase quicker with the ads on? Or take them off until I get some PR and therefore some weight, then activate the Coop ads again?
    Sincerely,
    Noob

Even with PR0 you should get weight if you do indeed validate on at least a few pages in the index.

Keep the ads when you get weight. Yuo should get weight. How many pages have you got in the index?

They seem to be all there... Did you enter your API key and revalidate? I have a site with 1 page in the index and a PR0 that gets 7 weight. You should get at least a few hundred.

Did you revalidate? Did it give an error message? Keying in the API key is really handy.

Maybe I've entered the API key incorrectly. I just copied the link that google sent me on the exchange network. I entered this
    http(colon)//www(dot)google(dot)com/accounts/VE?c=(string of 19 numbers)&hl=en
Is that how you do it? If not, what part of the API key do I enter?
    Thanks,
    The Noobness

No, just the weird string of numbers and letters. If you use the keyword tracker, it's easiest to just copy it from there.

You need that string of 19 characters indeed. That also explains why your weight is 0 I believe.
