Doing a bit of research and would like to pose some questions to marketers here if you have time,

    1. Do you submit any articles to Article Directories?

    2. If YES , are these Articles the same, uniquely written, rewritten, spun, etc for different directories? ...or do you only submit to one (which one if appropriate)?

    3. Why do you submit to article directories? (back links, money?)

    4. What is your main complaint of the article directories you are using?

    5. How long does it take to research/write one of these articles and around what length in words?

    Thanks alot....

    1) Yes - only started recently.

    2) I try to keep them unique because I believe in adding value and quality content... anywhere I write...

    3) back links

    4) limited number of links in the body of the article and some takes time to approve

    5) one hour if I have the mindset for it. I've figured the simple the article, the better it is for you. Especially when the goal is to get a back link and not to drive traffic to make money out of it.

Keep us posted about your survey.

    1. Yes

    2. I submit to 5 directories for the most part. Each directory gets the same article, but I change the title a bit for each. I never spin anything,.

    3. Some for money, some for backlinks.

    4. Don't really have any. For the most part my articles are accepted within a day, except for one directory that takes 2 weeks but the always approve my articles.

    5. I like my articles to be between 4 - 500 words. How long it takes depends on how familiar I am with my topic. If a have a ton of info in my head already, I can bang out an article in 15 or 20 minutes. If I need to research I could take 1 to 2 hours.

Thanks for the replies and would love to hear more.... I will be posing questions and findings on this post if we get that far :p

    Cmorley and Elle,

Interested to hear in your opinion how successful ADs have been for you using your strategy.

    Elle,
When you say for money, does that mean you write articles for money or you use web services such as Associated Content, Constant Content, etc.

    1 - Yes

2 - Never the same article to multiple directories. Usually originals, but sometimes collections of others ideas in one article. But I also write news so I sometimes re-write press releases.

3 - For backlinks and share my brands/ knowledge/ opinions around the web. And because I like to write.

4 - Time taken to approve articles. Lack of quality articles submitted by bulk article spinners.

5 - Obviously depends on the length. For something I have to research, 2-4 hours (including proofing, rewriting etc). For something I am doing mostly from my knowledge/observations 1-2 hrs. Usually around 500-800 words, again depending on the topic.
