I just saw a site using an interesting tactic, but I think it is questionable. Basically you will only look at each page of the site for a few seconds, then click a link to go to the next page. The link is in the same spot for a while, so you will keep clicking it and eventually probably just hold your mouse there and stop looking at it. Every once in a while the link will be down a bit where an adsense ad usually is and an ad will be where the link usually is, so a user will probably click it by accident wanting to go to another page. What do you think of this tactic? Violation?
Got an URL? I'd like to see it for myself. The effect might be easier to understand when confronted with the deed visually.
I don't remember the URL, I saw it a few weeks ago. It was one of those random fact sites though. You keep clicking the link to see the next fact.
Its not difficult to imagine this. In my opinion dodgy/deceiving way to force user into click. I don't know if it violates AdSense TOS, but surely users trust
Its a script which asks you to click on a link/ads to goto another page. Its seen alot on the warez site where you need to rate & rate the download/site ending up in 10000s of pop ups and pr0n stuff. Some ppl ask u to click on links/ads to get the password for download. This is 100% violation of TOS. I hv seen a site asking to click on AdSense ads below to get password for the download....someone here reported it and the person got banned.
This is not what I'm talking about though. To give everyone an idea of what I mean, go to http://www.siec.k12.in.us/~west/proj/claus/facts5.htm (this is NOT the site that I was originally referring to, but it works as an example). See how "next fact" stays in place for a while, then eventually is shifted up? On the page where it is moved up, imagine that there was an ad where the link used to be.
He said this is an example and this site is not what he was talking about previously. So don't expect the move of "next fact" on this site.
I can see the link move on the 6th page. So you want to know if you placed an ad on that link (on the 6th page) would it be against TOS? Very borderline IMHO and I have seen lots of sites do this - the only one who can say for sure is Google.
